ETO PALA ANG MGA BAWAL PAGSABAYIN NA PAGKAIN MATAPOS UMINOM NG GAMOT!

What you eat and drink can affect your health. You may think that gulping food and medicine will improve your well-being. But not all food and drug interactions inside our system will improve your overall health. Sometimes, it can lead to something worse if you do not follow the points below.

1. Bananas. Don’t mix it with ACE inhibitors, the so-called “potassium sparing,” such as captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), and lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestril) as too much potassium can cause an irregular heartbeat and palpitations.

2. Kale. Don’t mix it with blood thinners such as warfarin. Also, don’t mix kale with other greens unless your doctor told you so. Don’t suddenly start drinking a daily kale smoothie without informing your physician.

3. Grapefruit. Don’t mix it with a range of medicines such as lipid-altering agents (reduces bad cholesterol), buspirone (anti-anxiety medicine), quinine (anti-malaria medicine), erythromycin (anti-insomnia medicine). These medicinal drugs can interfere with how your body metabolizes and can increase the chance of side effects.

4. Milk. Don’t mix it with tetracycline antibiotics. Tetracycline works better if drank an hour or more before consuming dairy goods.

5. Salami. Don’t mix it with drugs such as metronidazole and linezolid, which are used to treat bacterial infections. Your blood pressure could spike if you consume too much amino acid tyramine. Tyramine is found in aged, pickled, fermented, or smoked food. In is also present in bananas, avocados, chocolate, and alcoholic beverages.

6. Walnuts. Don’t mix it with thyroid drugs such as levothyroxine. High-fiber food such as walnuts, soybean flour, and cottonseed meal can block these medicine inside the body. Useful tip: Drugs are better absorbed when taken before bedtime rather than half an hour before breakfast.

7. Black licorice. Don’t mix it with digoxin which is used to treat heart failure and abnormal heart rhythms. Combining licorice with digoxin can cause irregular heartbeat or even death. Licorice also reduces effect of other medicines such as blood pressure medications, blood thinners, pain relievers, and birth-control pills.
