Wanting to escape, the boy climbed up a tree.
The bullies threw a wooden plank with a rusty nail which penetrated his skull!
Bullying has been a continuous problem, especially concerning younger and “special” kids. Contrary to what many think, it can happen anywhere– not just in school. Kids are victims to this every day. However, sometimes it gets way too much. Apparently, they do more than call people names, they indulge in seeing others in pain. Like this case of a nine-year-old autistic boy who was nailed a plank of wood by heartless bullies.
Romeo Smith, a 9-year-old from Mansfield, was peacefully walking on his way home from visiting his grandmother when a gang of mean people came to him. They were calling the autistic boy rude names. Wanting to get away from the bullies, the kid went up a tree. One of the meanies cruelly threw a plank of wood at him. To make matters worse, attached to the thing is a rusty nail with bugs. It hit the back of the boy’s head and got stuck to his skull.
The boy’s mother, Natasha was actually with him at the time. However, Romeo got left behind because he was looking at things. It was something that his mom was used to because of his autism. She did not know that her son was more than just distracted. Upon arriving home, Natasha noticed that her son was not with her. The father, Craig rushed outside to look for the boy. He saw that while his son was going down the tree, a wooden plank with a nail was thrown at the young boy.
The victim was brought to King’s Mill Hospital where he was given morphine while the plank was removed. As a matter of fact, an inch of the nail was embedded in the boy’s skull.
“I don’t know whether it had anything to do with his autism, but I think they did see him as vulnerable. If I could speak to the boys responsible I would tell them to stop bullying others.I would tell them to stop the name calling and the violence. I don’t want this to happen to another child,” Romeo’s mother said.
Fortunately, the boy was taken away from danger when the plank was successfully detached. To avoid further complications, he was given antibiotics. What can you say about what the bullies did to the kid? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
